MEDIFLY Free Range
MEDIFLY Free Range is a biosurgical wound dressing containing living larvae of the greenbottle fly Lucilia cuprina. The larvae are grown in an aseptic environment and are sterilised to meet international standards for use as a medical device.
How It Works
1
The newly hatched larvae measure around 1-2 mm long and are allowed to roam freely on the wound bed.
2
The movement of the larvae on the wound bed stimulates the growth of healthy tissue.
3
The larvae will grow to a size of 4mm to 12mm as they liquify devitalised tissue and remove bacteria from the wound.
4
MEDIFLY Free Range will then be removed from the wound bed by a professional after up to three days.
Benefits of MEDIFLY Free Range
Targeted
High selectivity, able to target small and spread-out devitalised tissue
